Puppy Care

At Luna’s Doggie Den, our Puppy Social Afternoons are designed to give young dogs the opportunity to socialise, learn, and build confidence in a calm, home-from-home environment.

Taking place alongside our afternoon daycare enrichment and play sessions, puppies have the chance to interact with my daycare and boarding dogs, experience new situations, and develop important social skills, all under close supervision and at a pace that suits their age and stage of development.

This isn’t about overwhelming puppies with constant activity. It’s about creating positive experiences, encouraging appropriate interactions, and helping young dogs learn how to relax, settle, and enjoy the company of others. Through gentle play, enrichment activities, companionship, and plenty of opportunities to rest, puppies can develop confidence in a safe and nurturing setting.

Owners can feel confident that their puppy is not only being cared for, but is also gaining valuable life experiences that help lay the foundations for a happy, well-rounded adult dog.

For pups who would benefit from a little extra company, socialisation, and gentle enrichment, we offer our Puppy Social Afternoon at the Den.

Designed specifically for puppies and young dogs who are not yet ready for our longer countryside adventures or a full day of care, this session provides a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn, play, rest, and build confidence at their own pace. Taking place alongside our afternoon daycare enrichment and play sessions, puppies have the opportunity to socialise with carefully selected dogs, enjoy enrichment activities, spend time in the garden, and receive plenty of companionship and rest.

Puppy Toilet Training Requirements

Puppies and younger dogs must be sufficiently toilet trained to be suitable for a home-from-home boarding and daycare environment.

Before booking, owners must ensure that their dog is able to toilet appropriately outdoors or use a puppy pad/toileting area when required. Dogs who regularly toilet indoors, ignore opportunities to toilet outside, or have ongoing accidents without appropriate warning may not be suitable for boarding or daycare.

For hygiene and the wellbeing of all dogs in my care, repeated indoor toileting or inappropriate accidents may result in a dog being separated from the group or placed in a suitable safe area when direct supervision cannot be provided. This may affect their suitability for future daycare or boarding stays.

Owners must be honest and upfront about any existing toileting issues, incomplete toilet training or previous accidents before making a booking. A trial stay does not guarantee acceptance for future daycare or boarding.

Female Dogs in Season Policy

Puppies are very welcome at Luna’s Doggie Den. However, for the safety, comfort and wellbeing of all dogs in my care, I am unable to accommodate female dogs whilst they are in season for walks, daycare or boarding.

If a female dog comes into season before or during a booked period, any affected sessions will need to be cancelled or postponed until her season has finished.

Following their first season, female dogs attending Luna’s Doggie Den will be required to be neutered before returning for regular walks, daycare or boarding. To support their health and recovery, I recommend allowing the appropriate recovery period advised by your vet (typically around three months after their season) before resuming attendance.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping me maintain a safe and happy environment for all dogs.
